It is not an overstatement to say that this has been an historic year for basketball at the Woods. I want to extend my hearty congratulations to both the Boys’ JV and Boys’ Varsity teams on their first place finishes in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Tournament. Last Thursday, our JV Boys beat Norwood in the finals 39-37. Yesterday, our Varsity Boys beat Langley 90-46. The Varsity Boys were undefeated in league play this year. In tournaments and non-league games the Varsity beat top area teams including Bullis, Mater Dei and The Heights. The Varsity team finished second place in the Gonzaga and Georgetown Prep tournaments by beating all opponents but one, Holy Name School.

In addition, congratulations to our Varsity Girls on their first place finish in the CAC Eastern Conference and to the JV Girls on their second place finish in the CAC and in the tournament. This afternoon, our Woods students Jordan Abdur-Raoof, Agustin Basanes, Khaleef Bradford, Tess Iannarone, Grace Kudiwu, Anesu Nyawata, Amanda Pierce, Tanner Sampson, and William Westbury will represent the Woods at the CAC Boys and Girls Varsity All-Star games.
