Woods Academy Fifth Annual Golf Outing

Thank you to everyone who golfed, sponsored, donated, volunteered and helped organize The Woods Academy 2009 Golf Classic. On a picture perfect day for golfing, 76 players played the challenging links of Kenwood Golf & Country Club in Bethesda on Monday, October 5. The outing was most successful and all profits went to our Sharing in Growth Scholarship Fund.

The winners of the Fifth Annual Woods Academy Golf Classic were the foursome of Jerry Truman, Ed Cook, Gary Heldt, and Mike Thomas.  John Sanders (men) and Bryn Briscuso (women) won the Longest Drive Contest, and Gary LaPaille was the winner of the Closest to the Pin Contest.  This year, in our Putting Contest, Tom Lynch was crowned “King Putt” and Lisa Mathers was “Queen of the Green.”

We would also like to thank Lourdes Arguello, Jennifer Chow and Sheila Flanagan for Co-Chairing the event and organizing all of the volunteers.

We look forward to seeing you again next October!

Grandparents Day 2009

Montessori

What a wonderful treat to have so many Grandparents and Special Friends visiting the Montessori classrooms this year! Each child was so excited to show our visitors around the classrooms and introduce them to Montessori materials such as the sandpaper letters, movable alphabet and polishing stations. We were even able to take our visitors out on the playground to enjoy the beautiful weather! Thank you for joining us, and we can’t wait to have you visit us again soon!

Upper School Students Welcome Visitors

Upper School students played a key role during Grandparents' Day as many served as guides to help our visitors find their way through the building. Student Council Officers led a key part of our Prayer Service - The Prayers of the Faithful. Many Grandparents and Special Friends participated in classes and got an up close look at the middle school curriculum.
