Our students’ foundation in technology includes understanding how it works and how to use it to change lives. Our technology supports innovative learning at all ages – from interactive whiteboard projectors in all classrooms, to iPad learning stations in our Montessori Preschool, and one-to-one student devices in Grades 1 through 8.
The third graders recently engaged in an activity called “Quick Write, Quick Draw” which is also a teacher tool that invites learners to explain their thinking through writing and drawing. The activity includes linguistic, or left brain, as well as nonlinguistic, right brain, representations.
As has become a tradition in our country and now at The Woods Academy, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a day of service. This year, The Woods made a commitment to serve the “UNS” in our local community. Several opportunities were organized for our students and families to support those who are unclothed, unfed, unhoused, and all who are underserved.
The 4th Grade French students learned about Christmas celebrations from all around the world. They were asked what they usually do during the holiday season, how they prepare for Christmas, and what they do on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Students from the different countries, who are familiar with other customs shared with the class what they do to celebrate Christmas.
Character traits like honesty, being fair, and being kind and caring are traits we focus on teaching our students who come to Extended Care at The Woods Academy.
From the Critter Game to basketball, Physical Education classes strengthen cardiovascular health, challenge coordination, make our kids smile, and even improve math.
