The Woods Academy is one of only 15 schools in the state of Maryland that sponsors a CyberPatriot Team in the Middle School Division. “CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association (AFA) to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation’s future.” (Learn more at www.uscyberpatriot.org.)These teams prepare for the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition during which the students are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities and strengthening the systems while maintaining service in the given virtual networks.
Last year was the inaugural year for The Woods Academy CyberPatriot Team. The Woods is proud to sponsor two teams during the 2018-2019 school year. Both teams have competed at the regional and state level this school year.
