March is Le mois de la francophonie and this year we are celebrating the French-speaking islands.
In preparation for the Festival de la Francophonie, second-grade French students have been learning all about La Guadeloupe, an overseas region of France in the Caribbean.
This Unit included the study of its geography, food, languages, weather, flags, symbols, music and other important facts. Students were very excited to learn that they could visit the beach in La Guadeloupe throughout the whole year.
Students loved learning a traditional creole song called Maman a fait Zim, which portrays how families would spend time together harvesting coffee in the archipelago.
At the end of the Unit, second-graders put together all their knowledge into a very creative project.
