The cold weather is here and many students are dreaming about building snowmen! To support the 6+1 writing traits of organization, 1st grade students built a snowman in the classroom!
With the winter season here, our first grade students are looking forward to playing in the snow. While some students are excited to go sledding or skiing, most of our students are looking forward to building a snowman.
To support our 6+1 writing traits of organization, our students built a snowman. On their snowman, they organized and wrote the steps to building a snowman. Students shared how each of them build a snowman. We learned that some use blueberries for eyes while others use coal and some put a bucket on their snowman’s head for a hat.
In class, we read the book Snowmen All Year by Caralyn Buehner. This book inspired us to explore the possibilities of what if snow didn’t melt and what it would be like to have snowmen in spring, summer, and fall.
