Third Grade Ornaments

Ms. Stephanie Chapman, 3rd Grade Teacher

This month, each student was prompted to think about his/her favorite colors, hobbies, people, subjects, book series, and more to create ornaments that embodied him/her as an individual.

One of the projects third grade worked on this month involved creating ornaments of themselves! To begin this activity, each student was prompted to think about his/her favorite colors, hobbies, people, subjects, book series, and more to create ornaments that embodied him/her as an individual.

As the wheels were turning, the students were given a template of an ornament to decorate accordingly. Upon finishing their ornaments, the students were directed to write about the features included on their ornaments. This required the students to include descriptive reasoning in their writing to support their creative decisions while decorating their ornaments.

The finished products are hung from a paper Christmas tree in the hallway. Each individual ornament brings a pop of character and flair to the tree just as our students bring to The Woods Academy.

Happy holidays from the third grade!
