Parking and Transportation Overview
The following parking and transportation information makes up a part of The Woods Academy Transportation Management Plan. Please be sure to review the entire Transportation Management Plan on the Parking & Transportation page. This page will be available to review on WoodsNet in August prior to the first day of school.
Vehicle Registration
All Woods families and faculty/staff drivers and anyone transporting students to and from school, must register their vehicles and obtain a registration sticker to be affixed to the outer, left hand side rear window. Only vehicles with a registration sticker will be allowed to enter drop-off and pick-up lines.
To Register:
1. Log in to WoodsNet (database information only) |
2. Click the Transportation icon. On the Parking & Transportation page, click the Vehicle Registration Form button. |
3. From the menu, select School and then Web Forms. |
4. Select the Vehicle Registration Form. Enter your new vehicle information OR make updates to your existing information. Please delete any vehicles your family no longer drives. |
5. Click Save to submit your updates and/or changes. |
6. Stickers will be sent home with your child(ren). You will then adhere the sticker to the outer, left hand side rear window of your car (see image below). |
A magnet may be requested for car dealership, company or personal rental cars. Magnets must be placed close to the rear license plate.
Dashboard Name Cards
Color-coded name cards are provided for your vehicle's passenger side dashboard to assist staff during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. If you have more than one child in your family at The Woods, the name card will be by the oldest child in the family or carpool. Name cards will be available closer to the start of school. We will communicate the time to pick them up at a later date.
Carpooling
To comply with our Montgomery County site plan requirements, The Woods requires all families with two (2) or more Woods students to carpool, thereby limiting each family to one (1) trip onto campus during morning and afternoon peak hours. Families with one (1) student are highly encouraged to form carpools with other Woods families. The school assists families in finding carpool partners through a variety of means, including the Carpool Finder Map. The link to the Carpool Map will be available on the Parking & Transportation page in August.
Peak Hours: 7:30 to 8:30 AM and 2:30 to 3:30 PM.
Parent and Visiting Parking
Parent and Visitor Parking at The Woods Limited visitor and handicap parking is available in front of the school. DO NOT PARK IN RESERVED SPACES. These spaces are ONLY for the use of families who have purchased them at the annual Woods Academy Auction. Parents and visitors must enter through the main doors and sign in at the main office.
Parking Enforcement
Pursuant to enrollment and employee contracts, family and faculty/staff drivers must obey local traffic and parking laws and must comply with The Woods Academy’s Guide for Drivers. An initial violation of these policies will result in a mandatory conference with the STC and recordation of the infraction in the STC log. A second infraction during the school year will result in written notice and a mandatory meeting with the Head of School within ten days of the infraction. A third infraction during the school year will result in a monetary fine (currently $100). Subsequent infractions during the school year will result in the imposition of additional fines, with the dollar amount of each subsequent fine increasing (currently by $100), and/or may result in other remedial actions such as the suspension of on-site driving privileges or non-renewal of your enrollment contract(s).
Event and Offsite Parking
During the school year, The Woods Academy hosts special events that require special event parking accommodations. To minimize disruptions to traffic in the neighborhood and prevent interference with neighbors' access to their homes, drivers must comply with the following:
- Drivers must NOT park on the adjacent residential streets,
- Drivers should carpool whenever possible,
- Drivers must follow the directions of The Woods Academy parking attendants,
- Drivers, including faculty/staff, must use alternate off-site parking locations when required and as directed and assigned by the school.
Off-site Parking locations and additional information will be available on the Parking & Transportation page on WoodsNet in August.
