Getting Involved

How Can I Get involved?

As parents at The Woods Academy, we invite you to take an active part in your child’s education by volunteering in the classroom, participating in special events, giving to the annual fund, and becoming active in The Woods Academy Parent Teacher Organization (WAPTO).

The Woods Academy Parent Teacher Organization is a non-profit, non-partisan body whose purpose is to promote a cohesive school community and environment by supporting the school’s educational process through volunteerism. All parents and guardians of enrolled students, and faculty and staff are members of WAPTO.

WAPTO sponsors and promotes activities that build community supporting the enrichment of the school, prove information, and education for our
parent body, and heighten awareness of the school in the community. WAPTO sponsors events such as Teacher Appreciation Days, Friday Night Lights, Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Game Night, Santa’s Workshop, and more.

There are multiple opportunities for participation and leadership with WAPTO. If you are interested in getting involved, please reach out to waptopresident@woodsacademy.org.

INCLUSIVE CATHOLIC

Our parents are the heart of our community at The Woods. Their dedication and involvement create a warm, supportive, and vibrant environment for our students. Whether organizing events, helping in classrooms, or lending a hand wherever it's needed, their contributions make a real difference. Read below to see why our parents love volunteering at The Woods and how they make a difference.

I enjoy volunteering because it allows me to give back to the school that has given so much to my children. I also hope to spread the great news of The Woods Academy to others in our community through my volunteer activities. - Kimberly Sherman

Volunteering allows me to know my daughter’s school life better, which helps us develop a better
parent-child bond. - Jamie Mitchel

The Woods community of faculty, staff, and parents are all striving to build a more just and inclusive world. We see it in the growth of our children and desire to reinforce the behavior we want to see more of in the world. thank you for all that you do. - Ajit Verghese

I enjoy volunteering because I always learn something new - about the students, the parents, the teachers, and the staff. This year felt especially meaningful to be involved in the getting-ready stages for the play as our 8th graders prepare to move in new directions. It was a joy to see how they engaged with each other and with the teachers and just the excitement they held as student leaders. Woods has an extraordinary community, and volunteering offers a way to strengthen relationships. - Natalie Radolinski
