An Unforgettable Adventure in Spain

An Unforgettable Adventure in Spain

April brought something very special for our 8th graders—their long-awaited trip to Spain finally happened! After so much excitement and preparation, the students were ready for a week full of learning, fun, and unforgettable memories.

Spain welcomed us with beautiful weather, sunny days and pleasant temperatures made it even more enjoyable to explore and take in the views. Our first adventure began with a trip to Toledo, known as the city of three cultures. Students loved walking through the old streets, exploring a medieval fair, visiting the Greco Museum and the Cathedral, and ziplining over the Tagus River—with our brave Sra. Bados joining in too!

Back in Madrid, students had Spanish classes in the mornings, and in the afternoons we explored many amazing places. They took part in a flamenco dance class, went to a flamenco show, visited the famous Prado Museum, and toured the Royal Palace.

One of our most active afternoons was spent in Retiro Park, where students rowed boats on the lake and biked around the park’s scenic paths. It was full of movement and energy from start to finish! That same evening, we hopped on a night bus tour that took us past some of Madrid’s most iconic landmarks, beautifully lit up. It was a special way to see the city from a new perspective.

We also visited the beautiful Plaza Mayor, where students briefly joined a guided tour to learn about the historical and cultural significance of the square—including some fascinating religious traditions tied to the space. To top it all off, we visited the famous Chocolatería San Ginés, the oldest churrería in Madrid, where students got to enjoy delicious churros with chocolate, an absolute highlight!

Later in the week, students enjoyed a panoramic view of Madrid from the Riu Hotel terrace, and explored the Bernabéu Stadium, a favorite stop for our soccer fans.

On our last day, we traveled to Consuegra, where the famous windmills that inspired Don Quixote still stand. Students “met” Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, then wrapped up the day exploring the Castle of La Muela, where the views stretched all the way to Toledo.

Even though our days were packed, the experiences were absolutely worth it. Students came back with stronger Spanish skills, new friendships, and memories they’ll never forget.

This trip wasn’t just about visiting a new country—it was about growing, learning, and experiencing something truly special together. ¡Qué aventura increíble!
