Celebrating 100 Days of School!

February 20th marked our official 100th day at school! Our Montessori students have marked each new day by adding a “unit” golden bead to a crystal bowl. They watched as the bowl grew full and every time we got to 10 loose beads, we would trade it in for a ten bar. Eventually, the bowl filled with ten bars as well and they were so excited to trade in those ten bars for a 100 square. Little do they know it, but each day they are practicing math skills!  On our 100th day we looked at all the ways that 100 is represented as a symbol in our class and then we counted 100 Hershey kisses. Of course, they were allowed to bring their small share of 100 home to eat.
