Fairy Tales Around the World

Fairy Tales Around the World

Students have been enthusiastically exploring multicultural fairy tales as part of our Project-Based Learning (PBL) project. In one engaging activity, students compared Yeh-Shen, the Chinese version of Cinderella, with the traditional Cinderella story. They analyzed key fairy-tale elements—such as characters, setting, plot, and themes—and recorded their thinking using a detailed comparison chart. To extend their learning and creativity, students then designed their own magic fish, inspired by Yeh-Shen, to symbolize the source of magic in the story. This activity encouraged critical thinking, cultural appreciation, and imaginative expression.
