Learning, Loving, and Leading

February was all about love, kindness, and learning in our first-grade classroom! We  started the month by reflecting on the special people, places, and things that fill our hearts with love. Through a creative drawing and writing activity, students shared what brings them joy, comfort, and gratitude. Many of them expressed love for God, family, friends, teachers, pets, and even their favorite things like sports and food.

In honor of Black History Month, we also spent time learning about inspiring African American individuals who have made a difference in the world. The students enjoyed reading stories, having discussions, and working on projects that highlighted these important individuals.

Later in the month, we celebrated President’s Day by learning what it means to be President of the United States. The students had a blast imagining themselves as President and writing about what they would do if they were in charge. Their ideas ranged from helping people and making rules to making sure everyone had fun!

Another big event was our 101st day of school! We went all out with a “101 Dalmatians” theme, and students took part in fun activities all centered around the number 101. They wrote 101 words around the classroom, designed and built marshmallow homes for their little Dalmatian and participated in other exciting activities. It was a great way to look back on how much we’ve learned and grown in the past 101 days!
