People We Admire
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, what better way to pay tribute to those we care for other than a thoughtful and detailed writing? Not to mention a beautiful pop art heart creation! The students were asked to think about what it means to admire someone. After many students shared their interpretation of the word admire, we landed on the following: To admire someone is to look at him/her with respect and warm regards.
With that in mind, the students were asked to pick a person to write about. In their pre-writing, the students identified at least four character traits of the person they picked to write about, along with examples of how he/she exhibited these qualities. As a group, we came up with appropriate opening and closing statements to grab and release our audience. In addition to the writing, the students created a pop-art heart! The finished products exude bright rays of colors in complement of the people we admire.
Happy Valentine’s Day from the Grade 3!
