Pouring Kindness Into Service
Three different guest speakers talking with Grade 4 students about their organizations

In preparation for our lemonade stand later this month, students are writing essays about one of the three charities we’ll support. As part of our Project Based Learning unit, we had a special visit from one of the owners of Clayboys Ice, who shared what it’s like to start a business. We’ll also welcomed Ben Hoffschneider from The McKenna Center and Caitlin Chalke from Catholic Charities to talk about their charities and the importance of serving our community and those in need.

A series of photos of students working on their projects.

Students will take what they have learned and begin their first writing project by choosing one of three charities they researched—The McKenna Center, Best Buddies, or The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center—and writing about the impact of these organizations.
