The Woods Academy has been featured in various media outlets, raising awareness and showcasing our diverse educational programs. Our innovative STEAM projects, unique World Language classes, and strong character education have been highlighted. At The Woods Academy, we celebrate Bilingual Child Month year-round through our World Language Program. Our Grade 7 students explored Colombia as part of Bilingual Child Month and Hispanic Heritage Month, guided by Señora Gonzalez through projects, cultural discussions, and cooking Colombian dishes.
Learning a second language brings numerous benefits, from improved creativity to higher test scores. At The Woods, language learning starts in our Montessori preschool and continues daily through 8th grade. Our engaging approach fosters a love for languages that lasts a lifetime.
Our Grade 3 students explore the world of inventors by researching innovations, from groundbreaking creations to everyday items. After learning how inventions come to life, they brainstorm daily problems, develope solutions, build prototypes, and make improvements. Once completed, students name their inventions and create advertisements.
This unit fosters creativity, problem-solving, and resilience, teaching students that their ideas can make a difference while gaining real-world skills like cost and pricing considerations.
French Teacher, Mme Jibladze, discusses how early language learning fosters creativity, empathy, and academic success. Beginning in our Montessori preschool and continuing through 8th grade, students take daily language classes that help them develop a lifelong love for languages.
Through engaging methods like music, class trips, and peer learning, we create fun, immersive experiences that deepen both language skills and cultural understanding.
Math Teacher Mrs. Mullally visited FOX 5 on Kid Inventor Day to discuss our science classes and our annual STEAM Showcase. Children ages 2 through Grade 8 have the opportunity to explore a variety of exciting STEAM activities, including robotics, drones, coding, and more.
Our library was completed in 2023, just in time for National Reading Month, providing our students with a fresh, inviting space to enjoy. They shared their favorite books, and with so many options available, our library truly sparks their love of reading.
Our innovative curriculum empowers students to create and code their own video games. Beginning in Kindergarten, students build foundational coding skills, and by Middle School, they’re designing and developing their own games and tech projects.
