The Hallmarks

Of a Woods Education

Daily World Language

From preschool through Grade 8, our students learn French or Spanish, developing a love for languages that they carry to high school and beyond.

Faith life & Community Service

As a Catholic school, the faith development and character education of our children is devoted to enriching students’ lives and preparing them to lead lives of significance. Lessons on faith and values anchor everyday life.

The Arts

Our talented, creative arts faculty cultivates our students’ artistic gifts, engaging their minds, bodies, and spirits through art education that includes music, visual arts, and performing arts.

Montessori Preschool

The Woods Montessori program meets the needs and interests of three to six year olds. Learning is intrinsically motivating and joyful in the multi-age classroom and prepared environment.

Our students’ foundation in technology includes understanding how it works and how to use it to change lives. Our technology supports innovative learning at all ages – from interactive whiteboard projectors in all classrooms, to iPad learning stations in our Montessori Preschool, and one-to-one student devices in Grades 1 through 8.

Our athletics program is a critical part of our children’s education. It provides building blocks in their development while giving them an appreciation for health and fitness as well as habits that will last a lifetime.

Integration Takes a Village
Ms. Dosh & Ms. Vassos, 3rd Grade Teachers

As the children in third grade learn about civil rights as part of their social studies curriculum, they explore the topic in all areas of the Arts as well.

Instilling these ideas in an experiential way, takes a village. It takes all the teachers involved in the learning process to participate. Thank you to our wonderful Arts teachers, who help us to integrate our curriculum!

Prisoner Ball and Volleyball Madness
Mr. Parker, PE Teacher

It’s been Volleyball Madness in the Physical Education Department for the last month. Students at all grade levels have been participating in the Volleyball Unit.

Ireland Across all Subjects
Mrs. Phelps & Ms. Camalier, 2nd Grade Teachers

During the month of March, second grade is studying Ireland in an informative, engaging unit across several subjects areas.

A Student Visit
Sras. Skolnik & Sheehan, Spanish Teachers

Spanish students in Grades 5 and 7 were fortunate to welcome a student visitor from Peru. It was a great opportunity for our students to put their Spanish skills to the test while learning about cultural differences and similarities.

Discovery Day
Mrs. Papazian, Director of Extended Care

Children are curious and want to find out the what, where, how, when, and why of everything around them. They can take the smallest observation or object and turn it into a learning experience. In Extended Care, we foster their investigative nature by providing opportunities for them to discover.
